ARS & MECHANICA
Atelier & Workshop
Very fine gold leaf, silver, copper, Swarovski elements, metal flakes, powdered pure mother of pearl, transparent colours for stained glass... and more: engravings and graffiti, charcoal line drawings and iridescent veils of airbrushed colours... We feel there is no limit to our list of inexhaustible painting techniques.
In our atelier we continuously experiment to explore every potential. We create and work enthusiastically to explore the infinite universe of art history with its technical, iconologic and semantic developments.
Today there are many methods to assemble and decorate a machine. Think about automatic assembly lines using low cost materials and finishes made with stickers, decals or the more recent water print. However the methods used by Berkel and Unexpected-Custom is much more difficult but therefore more prestigious.
In complete antithesis to the easy market solutions, our search for perfection uses an obsessive attention to detail that is achieved only due to a production methodology that is still totally artisanal today.

Like splendid Attic vases, these flamboyant flywheel machines have carefully selected surfaces decorated and transfigured by art.
The enthusiastic staff of the historic "Officine" Berkel, working as the "maestri di bottega" of Renaissance memory, work to "forge" every single piece, using artistic intervention, expertise, precision and care for every minute detail.
